Solana Memecoin Season

Solana memes are back in full swing, with SOL degen volumes hitting $50mm today, outpacing ETH by 58%. Since March 1st, SOL daily degen volumes have risen ~5x, greatly outperforming previous all time highs.

WIF has run to $2.85 (ATH), and the community has raised ~$680k to get an ad on the Las Vegas Sphere. PENG and BODEN have tapped $100mm market cap ATHs, newish launch RICH ran to $50mm and new launch PORTNOY is currently sitting at $17mm. We’ve seen chainEDGE smart money bullish on a lot of SOL memes, with some notable tokens catching smart bids in the past 24hr including NICK, STAN, PORTNOY, TREMP and BODEN (yes, chainEDGE now has Solana smart money data 👀) .

On the EVM side of things, the ETH new launch market has gotten considerably weaker with the hot ball of money flowing back over to SOL. But more established new shiny tokens like CETI and GNUS have performed well (GNUS is a #1 chainEDGE smart money favorite). Over the past day there has also been notable strength in certain ETH coins including TRUMP, ASTX, ZKML, RSTK, VEC and PEAS. With BTC breaking ATHs (currently $73k), and with upcoming key conferences (NVDA 3/18 & Game Developer Conference 3/19), the consensus rotation is AI and Gaming on EVM chains leading into these events. Additionally, Blast went down today due to the ETH Dencun upgrade, and led to memecoin Pacmoon delaying its launch until tomorrow.

In terms of new tokens, SHFL launched today and is currently trading at a $574mm FDV. AEVO also dropped their token, which is currently trading at $2.96 / $2.9bn FDV. Other notable launches from the past few days include PORTNOY on SOL, GAMBIT, ORBK, NGL and ZION.
